EU Information Office
In
1995, a project was launched in
cooperation with the European Commission Delegation to
Turkey
and some hosting partner organizations like Chambers of Commerce
and/or Industry to form an EU Information Network across Turkey with a view to serving the
information needs of local people.
Accordingly, in 1996, the first EU Information Office
was set up in Gaziantep jointly
by the European Commission Delegation to
Turkey and the Gaziantep
Chamber of Commerce. Over the last 10 years, the Office has been
providing notable services and managing and coordinating a
number of EU-related projects not only in
Gaziantep, but also in both the South-eastern
Anatolia region and other parts of Turkey.
Tasks of the EU Information Offices
- Answering all EU-related queries coming from both
public and private organizations, NGOs, education organizations,
universities, the media and the general public,
- Ensuring public access to various EU databases,
- Contributing to the expansion of the network and
communication among EU information providers,
- Serving as a reference point for the general public
by advising on where and how to access further information,
- Organizing seminars, attended by experts as speakers,
on EU-Turkey relations and on EU policies,
- Distributing EU publications to the relevant segments
of the public,
- Organizing cultural activities.
Delegation of the European Union to Turkey
and our Chamber mutually signed a protocol to establish an EU
Info Corner on 25.02.2010.
